The short version

Notchy uses limited, account-free analytics.

Notchy has no accounts or advertising. Your saved climb and preferences stay on your device. Limited play and app-usage data helps us understand and improve the game. It is not tied to your name or an account and is not used for cross-app tracking.

01

Scope

This Privacy Policy describes how Notchy handles information when you use the Notchy iPhone app or visit this website.

02

Information stored by the app

Notchy stores gameplay information locally on your device so the app can remember your progress between sessions. This includes:

  • Game progress and saved climbs
  • Scores, run history, and personal bests
  • Sound, haptics, motion, and onboarding preferences

Your full saved climb, detailed run history, and preferences stay on your device. Limited gameplay milestones and usage summaries may be included in the analytics described below. Local information may also be included in device backups managed by Apple, depending on your device and backup settings.

03

Limited analytics we collect

Notchy uses Google Analytics for Firebase to collect limited, pseudonymous information about app usage and play, such as the screens and features used, onboarding and game events, and general gameplay milestones. This information is collected as you use the app and may be combined with basic app and device information, a randomly assigned app-instance identifier, Apple’s identifier for this developer’s apps, and a general region derived by Google from a masked IP address.

Notchy does not provide Analytics with your name, email address, account information, precise location, contacts, photos, or an advertising identifier. We do not set an Analytics user ID and do not attempt to identify you from this data. The app does not use this information for advertising or cross-app tracking.

04

Sharing and third parties

Notchy does not sell or rent app data. The limited analytics described above is sent to and processed by Google through Firebase and Google Analytics so we can understand aggregate use and improve the game. Google handles this information under its Privacy Policy and Firebase’s privacy and security documentation. Notchy does not use the data for advertising or tracking across other companies’ apps or websites. You can also learn how Google uses information from apps that use its services.

Apple may process information related to downloading, purchasing, backing up, or using apps under Apple’s Privacy Policy. Notchy does not control Apple’s data practices.

05

This website

This static website does not set cookies, run analytics, or collect information through forms. Firebase Hosting, provided by Google, may process limited technical request information, such as IP address and browser details, as needed to securely deliver the site and prevent abuse.

06

Retention and deletion

Locally stored game information remains on your device until the app removes it or you delete the app, subject to Apple’s device backup and restore behavior.

Analytics data is retained by Google according to the settings for Notchy’s Google Analytics property and Google’s applicable policies. Because it is not associated with a Notchy account or your contact information, Notchy generally cannot locate or retrieve analytics records for a particular person. Deleting the app stops future collection from that installation, but does not automatically erase analytics already transmitted.

07

Children’s privacy

Notchy is a general-audience game and does not knowingly collect information that directly identifies children. The limited, account-free analytics described above may be collected from all users. Notchy has no accounts or advertising.

08

Changes to this policy

If Notchy’s data practices change, this policy will be updated before those changes are released. The effective date at the top of this page will show when the policy was last revised.
